Features

Everything you want on the second screen.

One universal app — six modes. Slide between live map, instruments, weather, cruise narration, runway planner and sim control without breaking your scan.

Pilot Map — live aircraft over Ecuador with altitude, speed and a picture-in-picture cockpit view

Live Pilot Map

Real-time UDP position, AI traffic, airports, NDBs and VORs on a smooth Apple Maps layer. Your flight-plan polyline and a live cockpit screenshot ride along.

Six-pack cockpit instruments — airspeed, attitude, altimeter, turn coordinator, heading and vertical speed

Six-Pack Instruments

Airspeed, attitude, altimeter, heading, turn coordinator and vertical speed. Dark cockpit theme so a phone on the desk doesn't blind you at night.

Cruise dashboard with a generated narration about the terrain below over Ecuador

AI Cruise Narration

On-device reverse geocoding plus Apple's Foundation Models (iOS 26+) describe the terrain, country and notable features at your current flight level.

METAR and TAF for the nearest airport with VFR category and decoded cloud layers

METAR & TAF

Live weather from aviationweather.gov with on-device ML scanning for thunderstorms, freezing precip, wind shear and gust factor — surfaced as plain-English landing tips.

Control panel with gear, flaps, parking brake, autopilot, landing lights, nav lights and strobes

Send Commands

Gear, flaps, autopilot, lights, parking brake — sent back to the sim over the same UDP socket that streams telemetry. Buttons disable automatically if the link drops.

Airport directory searchable by ICAO, IATA or name with 79,378 airports indexed

79,000 Airports, Offline

Bundled database of every runway, frequency, navaid and surface. Each detail page has a labeled hybrid map and a per-runway Apple Look Around preview.

Built for pilots

Approach and takeoff, scored for you.

FSXFollow doesn't just show data — it interprets it. Real-time runway scoring on headwind, crosswind, length and gusts. Glideslope advisories with target Vref and top-of-descent. Density-altitude and ground-roll on departure.

Pick the right runway, every time.

The Approach mode ranks every runway at your destination by headwind, crosswind, length and gust factor. Tap "I want to land here" to expand a glideslope advisory with distance, ETA, top-of-descent, recommended descent rate and on/high/low profile status.

Tap the Look Around button for an animated Apple Maps preview of short final.

Talk to your simulator, both ways.

Telemetry isn't a one-way street. FSXFollow uses the same UDP socket to send commands back — landing gear, flaps, autopilot, parking brake, lights. Useful when your hands are off the yoke and the iPad's the closest thing.

The connection is scene-phase aware and auto-reconnects. If you background the app on iOS, telemetry suspends cleanly and resumes when you come back.

Set up in three steps.

No IP addresses. No LAN gymnastics. The session is internet-relayed, so you can track your flight from another room — or another country.

Install the app

Get FSXFollow from the App Store on iPhone, iPad or Mac. One universal app covers all three.

FAQ

Frequently asked.

Which simulators does FSXFollow support?
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, MSFS 2020, FSX, FS2004, Prepar3D v3–v5, and X-Plane 11 & 12.
Which Apple devices are supported?
A single universal app runs on iPhone, iPad and Mac. The Mac build adds a proper menu bar with Cmd+1…Cmd+9 mode shortcuts.
Do I need a Windows PC?
If you fly Microsoft Flight Simulator, FSX, FS2004 or Prepar3D, yes — our small free Windows client connects to SimConnect and routes telemetry to FSXFollow. X-Plane 11 and 12 work without any extra Windows software, since X-Plane publishes data natively.
Does my Apple device need to be on the same Wi-Fi network as my PC?
No. FSXFollow uses an internet-relayed session, so you can track your flight from the next room or another house. There are no IP addresses to type and no LAN configuration.
Where does the weather come from?
Live METAR and TAF are fetched on demand from aviationweather.gov and cached for ten minutes. An on-device ML pass scans the raw METAR for hazards (thunderstorms, freezing precipitation, wind shear, gust factor) and turns them into plain-English landing tips.
Does it work with VATSIM or other multiplayer networks?
Yes. FSXFollow reads your aircraft state straight from the simulator, so it's network-agnostic — VATSIM, IVAO, PilotEdge, single-player, any of them.
How much does FSXFollow cost?
FSXFollow is a paid app on the App Store. The Windows client for MSFS, FSX, FS2004 and Prepar3D is a free download from this site.
What happens when I background the app?
Telemetry suspends cleanly and resumes when you come back. The connection is scene-phase aware and auto-reconnects after a drop.
