VATSIM Live Traffic

Toggle 1,300+ online VATSIM pilots onto the Pilot Map and Radar — orange aircraft icons with callsigns, refreshed every 15 seconds from the VATSIM v3 feed.

Phosphor-green CRT traffic radar with concentric range rings and a sweep

Traffic Radar

Phosphor-green CRT scope, track-up, range rings out to 640 NM. AI + VATSIM contacts as triangles oriented by heading, runways drawn for every airport in range, off-scope arrows.

Route planner with departure, arrival and auto-filled great-circle waypoints

Route Planner

Search 11,000 navaids and 79,000 airports by ICAO or name. One tap auto-fills VOR/NDB waypoints between departure and arrival along the great-circle path.

METAR and TAF for the nearest airport with VFR category and decoded cloud layers

METAR & TAF

Live weather from aviationweather.gov with on-device ML scanning for thunderstorms, freezing precipitation, wind shear and gust factor — surfaced as plain-English landing tips.

Approach planner with runway scoring, glideslope advisory and 3D satellite preview of short final

Approach Scoring

Real-time runway picker scored on headwind, crosswind, length and gust factor. Glideslope advisory with TOD, descent rate, target Vref and a 3D satellite preview of short final.

Built for pilots

The deep stuff, done right.

FSXFollow doesn't just mirror the sim — it adds real panels, real airline-grade FMS pages, and real-time situational awareness from the VATSIM network.

Your cockpit, brought along for the ride.

Real MSFS instrument panels render live in the app: Primary Flight Display, Navigation Display, EICAS, MCDU, FCU, SAI. The Airbus A320 MCDU includes six authentic FMS pages — INIT, F-PLN, PROG, PERF, RAD NAV, FUEL PRED — with live position, waypoint distance, ETE, course-to-steer and radio frequencies.

The Boeing fleet covers the 737 MAX, 747-8 and 787-10. On Mac, Cmd+1 through Cmd+9 switch between modes from the menu bar.

Know what's in the sky, in real time.

Toggle VATSIM live traffic on the Pilot Map and Radar to overlay every online VATSIM pilot — orange icons with callsigns, refreshed every 15 seconds straight from the VATSIM v3 feed.

The Radar is a phosphor-green CRT scope: track-up, range rings out to 640 NM, AI and VATSIM contacts as triangles oriented by heading, runways drawn for every airport on scope, and edge arrows for off-scope contacts.

FAQ

Frequently asked.

Which simulators does FSXFollow support?
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, MSFS 2020, FSX, FS2004, Prepar3D v3–v5, and X-Plane 11 & 12.
Which Apple devices are supported?
A single universal app runs on iPhone, iPad and Mac. The Mac build adds a proper menu bar with Cmd+1…Cmd+9 mode shortcuts.
Do I need a Windows PC?
If you fly Microsoft Flight Simulator, FSX, FS2004 or Prepar3D, yes — our small free Windows client connects to SimConnect and routes telemetry to FSXFollow. X-Plane 11 and 12 work without any extra Windows software, since X-Plane publishes data natively.
Does my Apple device need to be on the same Wi-Fi network as my PC?
No. FSXFollow uses an internet-relayed session, so you can track your flight from the next room or another house. There are no IP addresses to type and no LAN configuration.
Where does the weather come from?
Live METAR and TAF are fetched on demand from aviationweather.gov and cached for ten minutes. An on-device ML pass scans the raw METAR for hazards (thunderstorms, freezing precipitation, wind shear, gust factor) and turns them into plain-English landing tips.
Does it work with VATSIM and other multiplayer networks?
Yes — and FSXFollow can also overlay VATSIM live traffic directly on the Pilot Map and Radar. Toggle it on to see every online VATSIM pilot as an orange aircraft icon with callsign, refreshed every 15 seconds from the VATSIM v3 feed. Your own aircraft state is read straight from the simulator, so any network works underneath — VATSIM, IVAO, PilotEdge, single-player.
How much does FSXFollow cost?
FSXFollow is a paid app on the App Store. The Windows client for MSFS, FSX, FS2004 and Prepar3D is a free download from this site.
What happens when I background the app?
Telemetry suspends cleanly and resumes when you come back. The connection is scene-phase aware and auto-reconnects after a drop.
Why FSXFollow exists

One developer. Fifteen years. Still flying.

In 2010, my girlfriend bought me an iPhone 3GS. The very first thing I did was search the App Store for a Microsoft Flight Simulator companion. There wasn't one — so I built it myself.

FSXFollow shipped that year as the first FSX flight tracker on iOS. Fifteen years later it's still going strong, now rebuilt from the ground up for MSFS 2024 — with live cockpit panels, VATSIM traffic, a real MCDU, and a route planner.
