Effective date: 15 September 2026
This privacy policy describes how PositionGames ("we", "us") handles information when you use any of our apps or visit our websites under the positiongames.com domain. We design our apps to need as little data as possible, and to keep what they do need on your device whenever we can.

1. Summary
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.
- We do not require an account, a password or an email address. Central Station's layout gallery identifies you by a random key your device generates, nothing more — see section 6. Multiplayer features use Apple's Game Center, which is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
- Most data — calendars, routes, game records, flight telemetry — stays on your device or in your iCloud account.
- Apple sends us aggregated, anonymous crash and download statistics through App Store Connect.
2. Information we process
2.1 Information you provide
You may grant our apps permission to access certain data on your device. We only use that data for the feature you triggered, and we never copy it to our servers unless this policy explicitly says so.
- Calendars and reminders (OrbitCal, Cal3d, Road Trip Easy): read and, where you choose, write events. Stays on device / in your iCloud calendar.
- Location (Road Trip Easy, Cal3d): used only while the app is open, to set your starting point or local sun position. Not stored on our servers.
- Health data (Cal3d): activity samples are read in-process to render biometric momentum. Not transmitted off the device.
- Photo / drawing assets (Look For Louis): are part of the app bundle; we do not access your camera roll.
- Game progress and statistics (Hieralex Words, Hieralex 7, Ukodus, Spectralopus, Look For Louis, ScrabbleDB, CargoSim): stored locally and, where you opt in, synchronised through iCloud.
- Flight telemetry (FSXFollow, X-PlaneFollow): your simulator's position data is sent through our tracking relay so other devices you own can render the moving map. Telemetry is buffered transiently and is not associated with an identity.
2.2 Information from Apple
- Game Center: leaderboard scores, achievements and turn-based match state. Governed by Apple's privacy policy. We see only aggregate scores and the Game Center alias of opponents you are matched with.
- App Store Connect: anonymous, aggregated download counts, crash reports and performance metrics. We cannot identify individual users from this data.
2.3 Information we don't collect
- We do not collect your real name, email address, phone number or postal address through the apps.
- We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or attribution SDKs.
- The only thing we keep on our own servers is what you deliberately publish to Central Station's layout gallery, plus a display name if you choose one. Nothing else leaves your device.
3. How we use information
- To make the feature you asked for work (e.g. building a calendar ring, plotting a flight, scoring a move).
- To synchronise your own progress across your own Apple devices via iCloud or Game Center.
- To match you with an opponent in turn-based multiplayer through Apple's Game Center.
- To diagnose crashes and improve stability via aggregated reports from Apple.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to providing the app.
4. Sharing
We share data only in these limited cases:
- With Apple when you use Game Center, iCloud or App Store services.
- Within a multiplayer match, your move history and Game Center alias are visible to your opponent — that is the nature of the game.
- If required by law, after evaluating the request and where possible challenging it.
We do not sell or rent personal data to anyone.
5. Storage and retention
- On-device data lives on your device for as long as the app is installed. Deleting the app removes it.
- iCloud-synchronised data is governed by your iCloud account and can be removed by you in iCloud settings.
- Game Center scores, achievements and match state are retained according to Apple's policy.
- Flight telemetry buffers in our tracking relay are short-lived (minutes) and are not retained beyond what is needed to render a live position to your other devices.
6. Central Station’s layout gallery
Central Station can share model-railway track plans with other users. This section covers only that feature — everything else the app does happens on your own local network and never reaches us.
6.1 How you are identified
There is no account, no password and no email address. The first time you use the gallery, the app generates a random key on your device and stores it in the Keychain. If you use iCloud Keychain it syncs to your other Apple devices, so your published layouts follow you. We never receive the key itself — only an irreversible hash of it, which is what identifies your layouts as yours.
You may set a display name shown next to layouts you share. It is optional, free-form, and neither verified nor reserved. Without one, your layouts show as “Anonymous”.
6.2 What we store
- The track plans you choose to publish, with the title, description and tags you give them.
- A thumbnail image of each layout, drawn by your own device.
- The hash of your publisher key, and your display name if you set one.
- Which layouts you have liked or reported, and which publishers you have blocked.
Track plans describe track, switches and signals. They carry no location data and nothing about you personally.
6.3 Published layouts are public
Anything you publish can be seen and downloaded by anyone using the app. Please don’t publish anything you would not want to be public.
6.4 Withdrawing
You can withdraw at any time from My Publishing in the app. Your publisher record, likes and blocks are deleted. By default your published layouts remain in the gallery but are no longer credited to you — they become anonymous. The app states this before you publish anything. You can also ask for them to be deleted outright, in the app or by email.
6.5 Reporting and moderation
Every shared layout can be reported from within the app, and you can block a publisher so their layouts no longer appear for you. We review reports within 24 hours. A layout reported by several different people is hidden automatically while it is checked.
6.6 Legal basis and retention
We process this information to provide a feature you asked for (performance of a contract) and to keep the gallery free of abuse (legitimate interests). Published layouts are kept until you or we remove them; reports and blocks are kept while they remain relevant to moderation. The server is operated by Position Games Limited in Ireland.
7. Children
Our apps are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, please contact us so we can investigate.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU/EEA, or the CCPA in California), you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction or deletion
- Object to processing or request its restriction
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority
Because we collect very little personal data and do not maintain user accounts, most of these rights are exercised directly on your device (delete the app, sign out of Game Center, revoke a permission in iOS Settings) or through Apple. For anything we hold ourselves, contact us at the address below and we will respond within 30 days.
9. Security
Network traffic between our apps and our tracking relay is encrypted in transit. Multiplayer traffic between you and Game Center is handled by Apple. No system is perfectly secure, but we apply industry-standard transport encryption and minimise the data we handle.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in an updated effective date at the top of this page, and where appropriate we will surface the change in the app.
